About MatterCheck
A living, documentation-based guide to Matter device support — organised by device type, with the evidence shown for every rating.
What MatterCheck is
MatterCheck answers a question that should be simple but usually isn't: does this Matter device actually work with my platform, and can it do what I need? Instead of a marketing list, we track 27 Matter device types across seven platforms — Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey and Hubitat — with four fields per cell: pairs, control, automation_trigger and automation_action.
That split matters because pairing is not the same as control, and being able to trigger an automation is not the same as being able to be commanded by one. A contact sensor can start an automation but can't be "controlled"; a plug can do both. MatterCheck tracks those separately, and shows the source behind every rating.
Our mission
Smart-home buyers are constantly told everything "just works" — right up until it doesn't. Our goal is honest, sourced, current information about Matter support so people can buy with confidence and stop returning devices that never worked the way they expected.
We hold two commitments above everything else:
- Honesty over completeness. When we can't confirm something, we mark it
Unknownrather than guess. A gap in our data is shown as a gap, not filled with an assumption. - Evidence over claims. Every rating traces to a cited, dated source, and High-confidence ratings require a dated independent hands-on test with the native Matter path, per our evidence standard.
