Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot vacuum: Matter support and platform compatibility

The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot vacuum (part 586182-01) is a Wi-Fi robot vacuum and mop that connects to Matter over Wi-Fi, so it needs a Matter controller and a Wi-Fi network rather than a Thread border router. The CSA DCL certifies it as Matter over Wi-Fi (deviceTypeId 116), and MatterCheck's type-level matrix shows pairing and control on all seven platforms; only Amazon Alexa's automation-trigger support is Unknown. It is listed in the CSA DCL as a certified model with CSA deviceTypeId 116, mapped to the robot_vacuum device type, and MatterCheck's type-level matrix for robot vacuums shows it should pair with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat.

Matter transport and CSA certification for the Spot+Scrub Ai

The Spot+Scrub Ai uses Wi-Fi for Matter, not Thread, and does not act as a Thread border router. The CSA DCL record lists the Matter robot_vacuum device type, with part number 586182-01 and product name "Spot+Scrub Ai robot vacuum." Dyson's DCL commissioning hint says the Matter QR code and manual pairing code can be accessed from Settings and Smart home. MatterCheck has not yet published a product-specific platform test for this model, so the table below reflects the type-level answers for robot_vacuum.

These are MatterCheck's type-level matrix answers for the robot_vacuum device type, not a hands-on test of this specific Dyson model. The only cell marked Unknown is Amazon Alexa's "Starts automations," which reads Unknown in MatterCheck's matrix. No product-specific difference has been documented yet.

Cross-platform comparison for the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai

Across the seven platforms, the Spot+Scrub Ai should pair and be controllable everywhere. The main difference is automation triggers: Apple Home does not let a robot vacuum start an automation, while Google Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat do. Amazon Alexa's trigger support is Unknown.

As a Wi-Fi Matter device, the Spot+Scrub Ai does not need a Thread border router, unlike Thread-only robot vacuums in the matrix. Hub requirements vary by platform: Apple Home needs a HomePod or Apple TV hub for remote access and automations (though iOS 18 or later lets an iPhone add and control Matter accessories without a hub); Google Home requires a Google/Nest Matter hub; Amazon Alexa requires a Matter-enabled Echo or eero hub; SmartThings requires a SmartThings-compatible hub (standalone hub, Samsung TV, Station, etc.); Home Assistant needs the Home Assistant Matter Server (HA OS recommended); Homey requires a Homey Pro, Homey Pro mini, or Homey Self-Hosted Server; and Hubitat requires an Elevation hub (C-5 or newer). For multi-platform use, Matter's multi-admin sharing lets you pair the same robot to several ecosystems without a factory reset.

Works on all seven platforms for pairing and control; skip if you need Apple Home automation triggers or if your furniture clearance is under ~4.3 inches.

Setup and product facts from Dyson's CSA record and reviews

Dyson's DCL commissioning hint says the Matter QR code and manual pairing code are accessed from Settings and Smart home. No reviewer has yet documented the exact Matter pairing flow for this model. For general Matter pairing issues, see MatterCheck's troubleshooting guide.

Product specs and limits reported by reviewers:

  • Mashable and The Verge list $1,199.99; Tom's Guide estimates $1,299.99–$1,350.00.
  • Tom's Guide's spec table says 14.5 inches wide but its text says 14.7 inches; TechRadar and The Verge both say 14.7 inches, so 14.7 is the more reliable figure. Tom's Guide lists the robot at 4.3 inches high, with the dock at 17.9 inches high, 17.3 inches wide, and 19.9 inches deep. The robot weighs 14.5 lbs.
  • TechRadar (February 2026) gives dock dimensions of 17.3 x 19.7 x 17.9 inches (W x D x H) in its spec table (its text gives 45.5cm high, 44cm wide, 50.8cm deep), and robot height 4.33 inches, diameter 14.7 inches.
  • Tom's Guide reports 18,000 Pa suction, a 0.5-liter robot dustbin, a 3.0-liter bagless dock bin, 2.3L clean and 2.1L dirty water tanks, and up to 200 minutes runtime in Quiet Mode.
  • TechRadar's spec table lists a 4L dock dustbin and 2L clean and 2L dirty water tanks, with a 200-minute max runtime (its text describes a 3-liter robot bin and ~1.5-liter onboard tank).
  • Vacuum Wars (April 2026) reports battery coverage below the 1,170 sq ft average in their tests.
  • The dock washes the mop at 140°F (60°C) and dries it at 113°F (45°C), according to Vacuum Wars and Tom's Guide; TechRadar reports the 140°F (60°C) wash water and that the mop is dried at the dock.
  • TechRadar says the mop slides sideways by 1.6 inches (4cm).
  • Mashable reports the AI-powered HD camera does not send or record images.
  • Tom's Guide's spec table lists dual-laser LiDAR with 360° scanning at 7x per second, plus an HD camera with AI that identifies 190+ objects and stains.
  • TechRadar notes a bottle of detergent is not included and that Dyson's own 500ml detergent costs £19.99 / AU$38.
  • Mashable (May 2026) reports the robot is too tall to fit under cabinets, dishwashers, and low-hanging furniture; The Verge (May 2026) reports it is too wide to get around some furniture.
  • The Verge reports the vacuum uses a third-party motor and brush system, not a Dyson motor, and that Dyson's own tech is mostly in the cyclonic dock, roller mop, and AI stain detection.
  • Business Insider (May 2026) measured about 93% pickup of crushed Cheerios and, in a targeted run on a low-pile rug, about 75% of flour on Auto mode, with the total closer to 85% after a Boost-mode pass.

Should you buy it?

If you need Matter pairing on Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, or Hubitat, the Spot+Scrub Ai should pair everywhere as a Wi-Fi Matter device. But if you want a vacuum that starts automations on Apple Home, skip it: Apple Home does not let robot vacuums trigger automations. For Alexa, trigger support is Unknown — verify before relying on it.
