eufy FamiLock E32: Matter-over-Thread smart deadbolt

The eufy FamiLock E32 (part number T85F2) is a smart deadbolt that connects to Matter over Thread; the CSA record also lists Bluetooth, and eufy advertises built-in Wi-Fi for the eufy app. It is CSA Matter certified under certificate CSA25E34MAT48518-24, certified November 17, 2025, for Matter 1.2. The maker names Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings as supported platforms. Because it uses Thread, the lock needs a Thread border router in addition to your platform's Matter controller.

Matter transport and CSA certification for the FamiLock E32

The E32 is a Thread device, specifically a Thread Full End Device, according to Matter Alpha's product record. MatterCatalog notes that Matter setup therefore needs a Thread border router such as a HomePod mini or a Google Nest Hub (2nd gen). The CSA record also lists Bluetooth, and eufy advertises built-in Wi-Fi for remote access through the eufy app without a separate bridge. HomeKit News describes the E32 as supporting Matter over Thread, allowing the lock to communicate using the low-power Thread networking protocol when connected to a compatible Thread Border Router.

The CSA Distributed Compliance Ledger record for vid 5427 / pid 22 lists the product as eufy FamiLock E32 with part number T85F2 and the Matter door lock device type. Matter Alpha shows the certified firmware version as V1.0.1.0 and Matter Specification Version 1.2. The certificate ID is CSA25E34MAT48518-24, certified on Monday, November 17, 2025.

FamiLock E32 platform support by Matter type matrix

These are MatterCheck's type-level matrix answers for the door lock device type. The E32 is CSA-certified for this type, but no product-specific platform test has been reviewed yet, so treat the table as the baseline for what a Matter door lock can do on each platform.

MatterCatalog reports that the maker's own site names Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings for the E32. HomeKit News adds that all three FamiLock models support Matter, allowing integration with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and other Matter-compatible platforms. No product-specific differences from the type matrix have been documented in the sources yet.

Cross-platform comparison for the FamiLock E32

Across the seven platforms in MatterCheck's matrix, the E32 should pair everywhere as a Matter door lock. The main variation is in automation behavior: Google Home and Amazon Alexa are Partial for controlling the lock through automations, while Apple Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat are Yes for both starting and being controlled by automations. Google Home is also Partial for direct control. These are type-level answers, not E32-specific test results. FamiLock E32 setup, specs, and reported limits

The E32 is a retrofit-style deadbolt designed for standard North American doors. It offers fingerprint recognition, keypad access, app-based control, and a physical key backup. Power comes from eight AA batteries, with eufy listing up to eight months of battery performance. Battery status notifications are available through the eufy app, and the key cylinder remains available if the batteries are fully depleted.

  • AndroidGuys reports the E32 is the most affordable of the three FamiLock models at around $139.99 at The Home Depot, and calls it the practical value pick for first-time smart lock buyers, budget-minded homeowners, renters with permission to swap hardware, and secondary doors.
  • CNET's Tyler Lacoma notes the E32 does not have face- or palm-reading technology, but supports multiple home apps and fingerprint entry options at $139.99. CNET also reports the FamiLock models were initially available only through Home Depot, with an Amazon launch expected sometime during July 2026.
  • Matter Alpha confirms the E32 supports fingerprint recognition, keypad entry, app-based control, and a physical key. It lists Matter 1.2, firmware V1.0.1.0, one endpoint, and Thread Full End Device as the Thread device type.
  • Matter Alpha's June 2026 report states the E32 does not support Aliro out of the box. Eufy told Matter Alpha that all future smart locks will support Aliro, but the current FamiLock E32, E35, and E40 launch without it.

For Matter, the E32 communicates over Thread. If you run into pairing trouble, the Matter device not pairing guide covers common Thread border router and controller issues. The lock also needs a Thread border router; see which hubs act as Thread border routers and Thread vs Wi-Fi for Matter devices.

eufy FamiLock E32 verdict

  • Buy if you want a Matter-over-Thread smart deadbolt with fingerprint, keypad, app, and physical key access at around $139.99, and you already have a Thread border router.
  • Buy if you prefer replaceable AA batteries over rechargeable packs and want up to eight months of battery life.
  • Skip if you want Aliro support for Apple Home Key or Android digital key unlocking now; eufy says Aliro will come to future locks, but the E32 launches without it.
  • Skip if you need camera, doorbell, facial recognition, or palm vein features; those belong to the E40 and E35, not the E32.
