The Govee Monitor Light Bar is Govee's model H2800, a Matter-certified smart monitor light bar that MatterDevices.io lists as connecting over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (2.4 GHz Wi-Fi confirmed in FCC filings); it does not need a Thread border router. It is listed on MatterDevices.io as certified on Matter 1.5 under CSA certificate CSA261GIMAT51298-24, dated 2026-03-16, and MatterCheck maps CSA deviceTypeId 269 to dimmable color light. MatterCheck's type-level matrix for dimmable color lights lists Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey and Hubitat as pairing-capable for the device type (not tested on the H2800); Govee's own product page names Matter, Google Assistant and SmartThings.

Govee H2800 Matter transport and CSA certification

CSA's DCL model record for VID 4999, PID 10240 lists product name Govee Monitor Light Bar, part number H2800, and deviceTypeId 269; MatterCheck's SKU record maps that ID to dimmable color light. MatterDevices.io lists CSA certificate CSA261GIMAT51298-24, certified 2026-03-16, Matter 1.5. MatterDevices.io lists the protocol as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, Thread Role N/A, and states the bar joins the home network directly without a Thread Border Router, though it still needs a Matter controller. The FCC attestation letter lists 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 2412–2462 MHz (802.11b/g/n20), BLE 1M, and a 24–24.25 GHz FMCW radar. See MatterCheck's Matter Wi-Fi vs Thread guide; this product does not need a Thread border router.

Govee H2800 per-platform Matter matrix

These are MatterCheck's type-level matrix answers for dimmable color light, not a product-specific lab result for the H2800. The SKU record has no product-specific platform test yet.

HomeyYesYesYesYes
HubitatYesYesYesYes

The product-specific difference is that Govee's page names only Matter, Google Assistant and SmartThings, and Basic Tutorials repeats that list. MatterDevices.io says the H2800 should work with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings and Home Assistant as long as the platform supports Lamp devices. Homey and Hubitat are Yes in MatterCheck's dimmable-color-light matrix, but no product-specific H2800 platform test was found in the sources for this record.

Govee H2800 platform differences in Matter

Every platform in the matrix is Yes for pairing, control, and being controlled by automations. Amazon Alexa is Partial for starting automations, meaning a dimmable color light may not start every Alexa routine under the type matrix; the other six platforms are Yes. Govee's US page says "Works with Matter, Google Assistant & SmartThings," and Basic Tutorials lists Matter, Google Assistant and SmartThings. Neither Govee's page nor Basic Tutorials documents specific behavior in Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Home Assistant, Homey or Hubitat for the H2800.

Govee H2800 launch, specs and limits from Govee, FCC and reviewers

  • Model and price: Govee US lists the H2800 at $109.99. Basic Tutorials reported a European launch price of 139.99 euros with code LB35 cutting it to 104.99 euros until Oct 2, 2026, 9:00 a.m. The CSA certification date is 2026-03-16; the FCC grant date is 2026-10-23.
  • Light output: Govee says RG0 blue light safety and TÜV Rheinland eye comfort, flicker-free asymmetric optics, 1300 lx center and 500 lx uniform workspace (MonitorLightBarPicks describes the 1300 lx as TÜV-certified); color temperature 2700–6500 K; CRI above Ra 95 according to Basic Tutorials.
  • LEDs and RGB: Basic Tutorials lists 45 warm-white, 45 cool-white and 56 RGB LEDs. Govee says dual-sided RGBIC backlight covers 17.7 x 31.5 inches behind the monitor plus a front strip, with 90+ dynamic effects in the Govee Home app; Basic Tutorials says Govee's Lighting Bot 2.0 is designed to generate scenes from voice commands, photos or text.
  • Presence and ambient sensing: The FCC manual says the built-in mmWave radar presence sensor enables automatic light on/off, and Govee's page says it turns the light off 5 minutes after you leave; an ambient light sensor adjusts brightness. MonitorLightBarPicks notes the radar auto-off is a timer, not continuous ambient-light dimming like the Quntis PRO+.
  • Mounting: Govee says the bendable support flexes 180°, fits 0.12–6.3 inch thick monitors and curved displays ≥800R, and tilts 30°. Basic Tutorials lists 22–34 inch monitors and a 48 cm length. The FCC manual says indoor dry locations only, not waterproof, light source not replaceable, and do not mount on walls, ceilings or tubular material.
  • Controls and power: Touch controls on the bar handle three zones, working/gaming modes, long-press brightness 1–100% and color temperature. Power supply is 12V 1.5A. The FCC manual also says the product has a microphone for music sync.
  • Reviewer context: MonitorLightBarPicks' comparison updated Oct 3, 2026 says this is Govee's first monitor-specific bar, distinct from the Govee Gaming Light Bars Pro, and compares it to the $69.99 Quntis PRO+ and $199 BenQ Halo 2. It says the BenQ Halo 2 gives roughly double the H2800's 500 lx uniform-workspace figure.

Adding the Govee H2800 to Matter apps without the Govee app

MatterDevices.io's setup guidance for the H2800 says to open the smart home app, choose to add a device, and scan the Matter QR code on the bar or its packaging, or enter the 11-digit Matter code. It adds that no Govee app is required for basic Matter setup, but firmware updates and special modes can still require the Govee app. If the bar does not appear during pairing, MatterCheck's Matter device not pairing guide has troubleshooting. Govee's US page says the Govee Home app configures effects and DIY customization, and the Govee Desktop app can sync lighting to on-screen action.

Govee Monitor Light Bar H2800: buy or skip based on sources

  • Consider if you want a Matter-over-Wi-Fi monitor light with a 1300 lx center task light, RG0 blue-light rating, dual-sided RGBIC and radar-based auto-off after 5 minutes.
  • Relevant if you use Google Assistant or SmartThings; both Govee's page and Basic Tutorials name those integrations alongside Matter.
  • Not ideal if you need continuous ambient brightness adjustment; MonitorLightBarPicks says the H2800's radar auto-off is a timer, whereas the Quntis PRO+ continuously adjusts brightness while you sit.
  • Consider alternatives if you want stronger uniform workspace lighting for less or no RGB; the review notes the $69.99 Quntis PRO+ measured about 1,200 lux and the $199 BenQ Halo 2 is roughly double the H2800's 500 lx workspace figure.
