Lennox Allied CA4 Smart Thermostat Matter Compatibility

The Lennox Allied CA4 Smart Thermostat, sold as the MyHomeComfort CA4 Communicating Thermostat under Allied part number 108927, is a Wi-Fi thermostat certified for Matter 1.3. Allied Air, a Lennox International company, says the CA4 works with Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa through Matter, and its support page also walks through SmartThings pairing. See MatterCheck's thermostat type matrix and Matter thermostat support guide.

Allied CA4 Matter Transport and CSA Certification

The CSA DCL model record lists vendor ID 4950 (0x1356) and product ID 774 (0x0306) for the Allied CA4 Smart Thermostat, with part number 108927 and the CSA device type for a thermostat. The CSA product page records family variant SKU 31Y97/108927-01, hardware version A, firmware 04.38.0087, and certificate CSA2606SMAT49652-24. Certified date is 2026-01-28, specification version is Matter 1.3, and transport interface is Wi-Fi.

Because the CA4 uses Wi-Fi for Matter, it does not need a Thread border router. MatterCheck explains the differences in Matter Wi-Fi versus Thread and Thread border router requirements. Allied's support hub requires the thermostat to be upgraded to version 4.38 and online before Matter pairing. The CSA product page's marketing description is Lennox family boilerplate, so MatterCheck does not treat its family-level statements as Allied CA4-specific.

Allied CA4 Platform Matrix: Pairs, Control, Automations

These are MatterCheck's type-level matrix answers for the thermostat device type; product-specific differences from Allied sources are noted below the table.

Allied CA4 Cross-Platform Matter Support

Allied's CA4-specific sources confirm Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and SmartThings as Matter platforms. The MatterCheck thermostat platform comparison matrix also has Yes for Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat pairing and control at the type level, but MatterCheck has no CA4-specific source or dated hands-on report for those three platforms. For automation starts, Google Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat are Yes; Apple Home and Amazon Alexa are Unknown in MatterCheck's matrix (no official source or dated hands-on report confirms it). All seven platforms are Yes for being controlled by automations.

Allied CA4 Matter Setup from Allied's Support Hub

Allied CA4 Apple Home, Google Home, and SmartThings Pairing

  1. Make sure the MyHomeComfort CA4 Thermostat is upgraded to version 4.38 and online.
  2. Put the thermostat and smartphone or controller on the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. On the thermostat screen, go to Main Menu > Settings, tap Make Discoverable, then tap Show Setup Code. A QR code or numeric setup code appears.
  4. Open a Matter-compatible app—Google Home, Apple HomeKit, or SmartThings—select Add Device, and scan the QR code or enter the setup code manually.
  5. Complete the app's instructions; the thermostat displays Pairing Successful when setup is complete.

Allied says Matter is designed to connect compatible devices across multiple platforms using the existing home network. For homes with multiple controllers, MatterCheck's multi-admin sharing guide covers the general Matter behavior, but Allied does not spell out a CA4-specific multi-platform sequence.

Allied CA4 Control4 and Building36 Integrations

Control4 is a separate integration: contact a Control4 dealer to download and install the MyHomeComfort API/driver from the Control4 library. Allied says this is backwards-compatible with an already installed CA4. Building36 requires installation and configuration by a participating Building36 service provider or dealer, after which the thermostat can be monitored and adjusted through the Building36 mobile app.

Allied CA4 Specifications and Reported Limits

  • Display: 7-inch HD edge-to-edge touchscreen, photo screensaver, color themes, and personalization, according to the Allied flyer.
  • Climate features: humidity control, auto changeover, adaptive scheduling, allergen defender, dual fuel, and communicating Pro Series system support.
  • Accessories: MyHomeComfort Smart Room Sensor adds temperature, humidity, light, and proximity sensing; the Wireless Extender nearly doubles connection coverage for digitally communicating accessories.
  • App and voice: the MyHomeComfort app adjusts temperatures, schedules, humidity, and alerts; Allied lists Alexa, Google, and Apple HomeKit voice assistant compatibility.
  • Dealer tools: advanced diagnostics, filter and system alerts, energy/performance reports, and a guided Wi-Fi setup wizard.
  • Warranty and rebates: 10-year limited warranty on components contained within equipment; AHRI 1380 qualification depends on state or local utility rebate programs.
  • Matter firmware: version 4.38 is the minimum from Allied's support hub; the CSA-certified firmware is 04.38.0087.
  • Limits: Allied says thermostat wiring, internal settings, and advanced configuration should not be adjusted by homeowners because incorrect changes can affect system performance, safety, and warranty coverage.
  • Documentation: the CSA DCL model record does not list a user manual, support, or product URL; Allied's support hub hosts the setup guides.

Allied CA4 Pairing Problems and Dealer Support

Allied's support hub frames the main Matter prerequisites as firmware 4.38, an online thermostat, and the thermostat and phone/controller on the same Wi-Fi network. For service beyond normal setup, it directs homeowners to the installing dealer, who can check zoning, humidity, airflow, and diagnostics. For generic Matter pairing failures, MatterCheck's device-not-pairing guide covers common checks.

Lennox Allied CA4 Smart Thermostat Verdict

  • Buy if you want a Matter 1.3 Wi-Fi thermostat for an Allied Pro Series communicating system and plan to use Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, or SmartThings, with the MyHomeComfort app for schedules and humidity.
  • Buy if you want Smart Room Sensor and Wireless Extender support, adaptive schedules, dual fuel, and dealer-facing diagnostics on a 7-inch touchscreen.
  • Skip if you need CA4-specific Home Assistant, Homey, or Hubitat behavior confirmed by an official source or dated hands-on report; MatterCheck's matrix has type-level Yes, but no CA4-specific proof is cited here.
  • Skip if you want to change advanced wiring, internal settings, or system configuration yourself; Allied directs those tasks to an installing dealer.
