The LG Smart Plug (part TMCP114W) is a Korean-market Matter smart plug that connects over Thread, not Wi-Fi. LG says it requires a Matter-based Thread Border Router hub such as the LG ThinQ ON, which is sold separately. As a Matter plug/outlet device, it can pair with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat in MatterCheck's type-level matrix for plug_outlet; product-specific controller tests beyond LG's ThinQ ON path are not in the official sources.

LG Smart Plug transport and CSA certification

The CSA DCL model record gives the product label "LG Smart Plug", part number TMCP114W, vendor ID 4142, product ID 8800, and the CSA plug/outlet device type. MatterCheck's SKU record lists the transport as Thread and the thread role as "Thread device; needs Thread border router + Matter controller", so this plug is not itself a Thread border router. LG Korea writes that using the product requires a Matter-based Thread Border Router hub such as ThinQ ON.

The latest certificate named in MatterCheck's SKU record is CSA263T9MAT54349-24, certified 2026-06-14 for Matter 1.4. LG's product page, however, says "Matter 1.3 standard protocol certification complete" and lists Android 9 / iOS 16.4 as supported mobile OS versions, while a separate ThinQ app note says to check minimum specs of Android 12 or iOS 18.0. For background on the transport choice, see MatterCheck's Thread vs Wi-Fi guide.

LG Smart Plug platform support matrix

The table below is MatterCheck's type-level matrix for plug_outlet devices, not a product-specific lab result. It shows what the device type normally supports.

HubitatYesYesYesYes

The official LG and CSA sources do not document product-specific pairing results for Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, or Hubitat. Amazon Alexa's Starts automations cell is Unknown in MatterCheck's matrix (no official source or dated hands-on report confirms it); the other six platforms are all Yes across every cell.

Across the matrix, Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat have the same all-Yes answers. Amazon Alexa is the only platform with an Unknown cell: pairing and control are Yes, and Alexa can control the plug through automations, but whether the plug can start Alexa routines is Unknown. Matter's shared-device model is separate from those matrix values; for how controllers can share one device, see Matter multi-admin: share a device.

LG Smart Plug setup, specs, and limits

ThinQ ON setup and LG's stated requirements

LG's published setup path centers on the ThinQ ON hub and ThinQ app. LG says to download the ThinQ app from Google Play or the App Store, connect on Wi-Fi, and register the ThinQ ON first; the ThinQ ON is added through the app's product addition menu. LG states that ThinQ ON must connect to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and cannot connect to 5 GHz.

The CSA DCL record gives the plug's commissioning steps: press the on/off button to enter the commissioning standby state, and the LED will blink green. For factory reset, press the on/off button for more than 5 seconds; the CSA DCL record says the LED will blink red and then green.

Smart plug specs and safety cutoffs

  • Network and interface: Thread, Matter, and Bluetooth LE v5.3.
  • Dimensions and weight: 42.0 x 42.0 x 76.7 mm and 69 g.
  • Power specs: LG lists rated input at 220VAC/50mA and rated electrical power 1 W max; the spec table lists rated voltage at 250V~ 50/60Hz.
  • Load limits: maximum current 16 A and maximum power 3520 W.
  • Safety cutoffs: LG says the plug cuts power if internal temperature reaches 85°C or higher, or if connected load current reaches 16 A or higher.
  • Included items: smart plug body and user manual.
  • LG ThinQ app functions listed: remote control and power/voltage/current monitoring.
  • Color: Essence White; release month: October 2025.
  • On the product page dated 2026-10-10, LG Korea listed a sale price of 67,000 won after a 9% discount from 74,000 won.

LG warns against using the plug on a multi-tap because of the 16 A / 3520 W maximum and says only one 220 V electronic product should be connected. For old or non-smart appliances, LG says remote control works only with products that resume operation immediately after power returns, or products with mechanical button on/off behavior. The page also notes that automation routines may have some delay time.

Enuri customer review details

An Enuri customer review dated 2025.12.14 rated the LG Smart Plug 5 out of 5, said connectivity was very good and power measurement worked, but said the integrated total power usage figure was not being added in the LG ThinQ app; the reviewer wrote that customer service said it would be added later.

A separate Enuri review dated 2025.12.02 rated it 3 out of 5. The reviewer called it the only domestic Matter-over-Thread smart plug on sale at the time, criticized the price as high, and praised the slim shape for avoiding outlet interference. The same reviewer said the QR code is placed on the plug-prong side instead of the exterior, making it hard to pair while an appliance is plugged in, and reported no Matter OTA support with no visible firmware update feature in the ThinQ app. The reviewer compared buying Onvis smart plugs from Amazon Germany as a price alternative. For general pairing problems with Matter devices, see Matter device not pairing.

LG Smart Plug verdict

  • Buy if you have or will add an LG ThinQ ON and want a compact Korean-plug Thread smart plug with 16 A / 3520 W switching, current/voltage/power monitoring, and over-temperature/overcurrent cutoffs.
  • Buy if your appliance immediately restarts after power is restored or uses a mechanical on/off button, because LG limits remote control to those cases.
  • Skip if you do not want a separate hub; LG states a Matter-based Thread Border Router hub is required and is sold separately.
  • Skip if you want direct Wi-Fi pairing; this model is Thread, not Wi-Fi.
  • Skip if you plan to use it on a multi-tap or to control multiple 220 V appliances from one plug; LG warns against multi-tap use and says one appliance per plug.
  • Skip if you need product-specific confirmation that the plug can start Alexa routines; that matrix cell is Unknown.
