The LG Smart Wall Switch (1 Button), part TMCS1W4W, is a Korean-market Matter over Thread wall switch. CSA records list it as a Matter on/off light endpoint with primary device type 0x0100, and LG describes it as a one-gang wall switch for lighting or bathroom ventilation. LG says a Matter-based Thread border-router hub such as LG ThinQ ON is required to use it with the ThinQ app. MatterCheck's type-level matrix for on/off light devices lists pairing and control as Yes on Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat.

LG Smart Wall Switch (1 Button) Matter Transport

CSA's current product page for TMCS1W4W lists Thread and Bluetooth, firmware 1.3.00, hardware 1.0, certificate CSA263LFMAT54067-24, certified June 2, 2026, and Matter Specification Version 1.4. An earlier CSA page lists firmware 1.2.10 and Matter 1.3 under certificate CSA261HAMAT51326-24, certified March 30, 2026. Both records mark the primary device type as 0x0100, the standard on/off light type. This switch is a Thread device, not a border router, so MatterCheck's Thread border router guide applies: to reach a Matter controller over Thread it needs a border router on the same fabric. LG's Korean page specifically says the TMCS1W4W requires a Matter-based Thread Border Router hub such as LG ThinQ ON. MatterCheck also explains the tradeoffs in its Matter Thread vs Wi-Fi guide. The certification records include Bluetooth, which is common for Matter commissioning, but LG's product page does not describe a standalone Bluetooth control mode.

LG Smart Wall Switch (1 Button) Platform Matrix

These are MatterCheck's type-level matrix answers for the on_off_light device type, not a lab test of this specific LG model. Product-specific behavior from LG's page is noted after the table.

LG's product page adds a product-specific limit: the switch's edge-lighting mode, color, and brightness changes are supported only in the ThinQ app when the switch is registered to LG ThinQ ON. If the switch is connected through another Matter app, LG says only basic functions such as switch on/off are provided.

LG Smart Wall Switch (1 Button) Cross-Platform Behavior

Across the seven platforms, MatterCheck's type-level matrix for on/off light devices shows pairing, control, use as an automation action, and use as an automation trigger as Yes, except Amazon Alexa's starts-automations cell, which is Unknown in MatterCheck's matrix. See MatterCheck's Matter platform comparison for how platforms handle device types. There is no product-specific Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, or Hubitat test report in the available sources, so the table remains type-level. For sharing the switch into a second ecosystem, MatterCheck's Matter multi-admin sharing guide explains how Matter devices can be added to more than one fabric.

LG Smart Wall Switch (1 Button) ThinQ Setup

LG's product page gives these setup points:

  • Download the ThinQ app from Google Play or the Apple App Store, then register LG ThinQ ON first in a Wi-Fi environment.
  • Use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; LG says 5 GHz cannot be used.
  • Matter and Zigbee IoT devices connect to the ThinQ app through ThinQ ON; some IoT devices connect directly over Wi-Fi, but this Thread switch uses the ThinQ ON route.
  • Voice on/off for the switch works through ThinQ ON.

LG Smart Wall Switch (1 Button) Commissioning and Reset

The CSA DCL record for TMCS1W4W lists commissioning and reset steps. Press the reset button on the product to enter commissioning standby; the LED blinks green. To reset the product, press the reset button for more than 5 seconds; the LED blinks red and then green.

LG Smart Wall Switch (1 Button) Install Notes and Limits

  • CSA says the switch can be installed with or without a neutral wire.
  • LG says each switch button has a maximum connected load of 600W. For the 1-button model, do not exceed 600W on that one button.
  • LG says it cannot replace an existing dimmer switch, boiler switch, all-off integrated switch, 3-way switch, a switch with two or more live wires, or a switch box outside 54 x 102 x 44/55/75 mm (W x L x H).
  • LG says one LG Smart Lighting Switch product can be installed per existing household switch position.
  • LG says some lights may show afterglow, flicker, or switch non-operation depending on the home environment; LG attributes this to the light's characteristics and says connecting a capacitor to the light can resolve it through a professional installer.
  • LG says the switch controls lights, ventilation fans, and similar loads by power on/off, with remote, voice, and routine automation control in the ThinQ app.

LG Smart Wall Switch (1 Button) Verdict

  • Buy if you want a 1-gang Matter over Thread wall switch for on/off lighting or ventilation and already run LG ThinQ ON.
  • Buy if your existing switch box matches LG's 54 x 102 x 44/55/75 mm requirement and is not dimmer, 3-way, boiler, integrated, or multi-live.
  • Skip if you lack a Matter-based Thread border router hub such as LG ThinQ ON; LG says this switch requires one.
  • Skip if you need the edge-lighting color and brightness controls in Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, or Hubitat; LG says other Matter apps provide only basic on/off.
  • Skip if your wiring is a dimmer, boiler, integrated all-off, 3-way, or multi-live switch. LG says it cannot be replaced with this product.
