SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier and Matter support
The SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier is a 4.5 L cold-evaporation humidifier that can output up to 750 ml/h and runs as low as 18 dB. It is a Matter-certified device (CSA certificate CSA254E0MAT46130-24, certified 2025-07-21, Matter 1.4); SwitchBot's product page and Help Center describe Matter access through a SwitchBot hub, while 9to5Mac reported in September 2025 that a firmware update added native Matter 1.4 support without a hub. SwitchBot's product page says it works with Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home and Home Assistant. MatterCheck's platform answers for this device type are below.
Matter transport and CSA certification
The CSA DCL record for vendor ID 5015 and product ID 2045 lists the SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier with the fan/air purifier device type. The CSA product page states the transport interface is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the specification version is Matter 1.4, the firmware version is 1.0, and the certificate ID is CSA254E0MAT46130-24 with a certified date of 2025-07-21.
There is a documented conflict about how the humidifier reaches Matter. SwitchBot's product page still says "(*Matter support requires SwitchBot Hub)" and describes operation over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. SwitchBot's Help Center article on device Matter compatibility (see MatterCheck's guide to Matter support across SwitchBot devices) lists the SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier under "Matter over Bridge (SwitchBot Matter Bridge required)" and also under "Lab Feature (Beta)", but not under "Matter over Wi-Fi". In contrast, 9to5Mac's September 12, 2025 HomeKit Weekly article reported that with Matter 1.4 the humidifier "no longer needs a hub to work with Matter" and appears in the Home app directly.
SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier platform support in MatterCheck's matrix
These are MatterCheck's type-level matrix answers for the fan/air purifier device type. They are not product-specific lab results for this SwitchBot model.
| Platform | Pairs | Control | Starts automations | Controlled by automations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Home | Yes | Yes | Unknown | Yes |
| Google Home | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Amazon Alexa | Yes | Yes | Unknown | Yes |
| SmartThings | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Home Assistant | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Homey | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Hubitat | Partial | Yes | Yes | Yes |
For Apple Home and Amazon Alexa, whether the humidifier can start automations is Unknown in MatterCheck's matrix. Hubitat pairing is Partial at the type level. SwitchBot's product page names Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home and Home Assistant as supported Matter platforms, which matches the Yes pairing values for those four platforms in the matrix.
Cross-platform comparison for the SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier
Across the seven platforms MatterCheck tracks, the fan/air purifier type pairs fully with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant and Homey, and partially with Hubitat. Control is Yes on all seven platforms. Automation action support is Yes everywhere, while automation trigger support is Yes on Google Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey and Hubitat but Unknown on Apple Home and Amazon Alexa. 9to5Mac's September 2025 report specifically describes using Siri, HomeKit scenes and automations with the humidifier once paired, which is consistent with Apple Home control and automation action support, though MatterCheck's matrix lists Apple Home automation triggers as Unknown for this device type.
Setup paths for the SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier
SwitchBot's Help Center article "How to Sync SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier to Apple Home App" gives this hub-based path: launch the SwitchBot app, tap the Matter-compatible hub, tap the gear icon, tap "Matter Setup", tap "Secondary Device", then tap "Lab Features (Beta)" and add the Evaporative Humidifier. The article says to add the Matter-compatible hub to the Apple Home app first, and lists Hub Mini Matter Enabled, Hub 2, Hub 3 and AI Hub as compatible hubs. If the humidifier does not show up, MatterCheck's Matter device not pairing guide covers general checks.
9to5Mac's September 12, 2025 article reports a different path after the Matter 1.4 firmware update: the humidifier no longer needs a hub, appears in the Home app directly, and can be controlled with Siri and used in HomeKit scenes and automations. The same article says the humidifier can integrate with the SwitchBot Floor Cleaning Robot S10 so the S10 refills it automatically from a shared water source, but that integration does not work through Matter.

SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier verdict
- Buy if you want a Matter-certified evaporative humidifier with a 4.5 L tank and up to 750 ml/h output, and you are comfortable with SwitchBot's current hub-bridge setup path or the native Matter path reported by 9to5Mac.
- Buy if you want HomeKit control via Siri and scenes, as 9to5Mac's September 2025 report describes.
- Skip if you need confirmed automation trigger support on Apple Home or Amazon Alexa: those cells are Unknown in MatterCheck's matrix for this device type.
- Skip if you want a fully documented native Matter-over-Wi-Fi setup today: SwitchBot's own Help Center still lists the humidifier under Matter over Bridge and Lab Feature (Beta), not Matter over Wi-Fi.
