Tapo P115M Matter transport and CSA certification
The CSA DCL record for vendor 5010, product 270 lists Tapo Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug, Energy Monitoring with part number P115M and deviceTypeId 266, which MatterCheck maps to the plug_outlet device type. TP-Link's spec pages say this Wi-Fi plug family uses IEEE 802.11b/g/n and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only; Bluetooth is for setup only. Because this is Wi-Fi rather than Thread, you do not need a Thread border router — normal 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is the transport. See Matter Thread vs Wi-Fi and Matter smart plug support for how that affects pairing.
MatterCheck plug_outlet platform matrix
These are MatterCheck's type-level answers for a Matter plug_outlet device; the P115M's deviceTypeId 266 is mapped by MatterCheck to plug_outlet, but no dated product-specific hands-on platform test appears in the sources, so product-specific differences are noted after the table.
| Platform | Pairs | Control | Starts automations | Controlled by automations |

Product-specific notes: TP-Link's P110M page says “Matter Certified – Integrate Matter-certified Tapo devices with other Matter end products into your preferred ecosystem” and lists Apple Home, Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings under Third-Party Platform. TP-Link's P110M page says the P110M can be set up by scanning the included code with any Matter-compatible app, such as the Alexa app, Google Home app, and Apple Home app. The Tapo P115 page lists Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings under Third-Party Platform, with no Apple Home entry. Digital Citizen's Tapo P115 review (February 13, 2023; updated October 4, 2025) said it integrated with Google Home, Google Assistant, and the Tapo ecosystem, and later mentions Alexa or Google Assistant voice control; it did not mention Apple Home.
Cross-platform comparison for the P115M/P115
Across Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat, MatterCheck's plug_outlet matrix is uniform except for one cell: Amazon Alexa's automation-trigger value is Unknown. The other six platforms are listed as Yes for starts automations. All seven are Yes for pairing, control, and being controlled by automations. Because the P115M is Matter-certified, the Matter multi-admin setup route can add it to several ecosystems using the Matter code. TP-Link's P115 page does not list Matter or Apple Home, so that listing is covered only by its named Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings integrations.
Tapo P115/P115M setup, specs, and reported behavior
Tapo app setup and power button
TP-Link's user guide for the Tapo Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug, Energy Monitoring says to download the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play, log in with a TP-Link ID, tap the + button, choose Plugs under the Tapo brand, and select your model. The TP-Link P115 page says Bluetooth onboarding can simplify setup and estimates connection within about 20 seconds, with no hub required. Its specifications list iOS 11 or higher and Android 5.0 or higher (the setup section elsewhere says iOS 10.0 or higher). The user guide describes the power button: press once to toggle the plug, hold for 5 seconds to keep settings except Wi-Fi, and hold for 10 seconds to restore factory defaults. A second Matter setup code label in the package can be attached where needed.
Matter onboarding and HomeKit-type pairing
TP-Link's P110M page describes two ways to onboard a Matter Tapo plug: Bluetooth onboarding in the Tapo app, or scanning the included Matter code with any Matter-compatible app, such as the Alexa app, Google Home app, and Apple Home app. This is the Matter code-based setup path for the Matter model — TP-Link/Tapo Matter device setup uses the same code-based flow. The P115 page's Third-Party Platform list does not include Apple Home, so Apple Home pairing is not listed for the P115. If a Matter pairing does not start, MatterCheck's Matter device not pairing guide covers common causes.
Energy monitoring, billing, and power protection
TP-Link's energy-monitoring FAQ, updated September 29, 2026, applies to the Tapo P110, P110M, and P115. It says the Tapo P110 or P115 must be on firmware 1.1.2 or newer and the Tapo app on 2.10.x or newer:
- Dashboard: today, past 30 days, and current real-time power refreshed every 5 seconds; measurement to 0.001 kWh and unit switching between kWh and Wh.
- Usage graphs: day view covers the past 7 days with hourly intervals; month view covers 3 months daily; year view covers 12 months monthly. Power graphs cover 24 hours at 5-minute intervals or 7 days hourly.
- Energy Calendar: daily usage for the past 3 months, color-coded blue, orange, and red for lower, average, and higher consumption.
- Electric Bill Calculator: supports singular fixed-rate billing and periodic variable-rate billing; TP-Link says the estimate is for reference only and real costs depend on the electric company.
- Power Protection: auto off when power exceeds a custom threshold for 10 consecutive readings; threshold range is 1W–3670W with a 10W minimum adjustment, and a push notification is sent.
- Energy data can be reset to zero or exported locally without a factory reset.
Physical specs and reviewer observations
TP-Link's US Tapo P115 page lists dimensions 2.6 × 1.5 × 1.6 in (60 × 38 × 40 mm), UL94-V0 flame-retardant PC, 100–125 V~ 50/60 Hz, 15 A, maximum load 15 A / 1800 W general or resistive, 8 A incandescent, and 1/6 HP motor. The P110M page lists 66 × 38 × 40 mm and the same 15 A / 1800 W general-use figure. Digital Citizen's Tapo P115 review (February 13, 2023; updated October 4, 2025) of the EU Tapo P115 reported dimensions 49 × 49 × 60 mm, weight 81 g, 100–240 V, 16 A, and 3680 W maximum input. Reviewer Radu Tyrsina called the plug compact and affordable, said the Tapo app was easy to use, and noted the only downside he found was a small delay of a couple of seconds in the live power reading. He also said the status LED is close to the plug and not very visible.
Tapo P115/P115M verdict
- Consider if you want a Matter-certified Wi-Fi plug outlet with energy monitoring and use Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, or another Matter ecosystem.
- Consider if you want TP-Link's power dashboard, bill estimator, and Power Protection thresholds.
- Consider if a compact plug with no hub and Bluetooth onboarding matters.
- Note: the TP-Link Tapo P115 page names Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings, but not Apple Home.
- Note: Digital Citizen noticed a couple-second lag in power data.
- Note: the listed maximum is US 15 A / 1800 W or EU 16 A / 3680 W.
