The Govee Smart Bulb covered by this MatterCheck record is the part-number H14B1 model: a Wi-Fi Matter 1.5 dimmable color light certified by the CSA on 2026-06-24. It connects over Wi-Fi, not Thread, so there is no Thread border router requirement. At the device-type level, MatterCheck's dimmable color light matrix lists pairing as Y for Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat; no product-specific H14B1 platform test is in the record yet.

Govee Smart Bulb Matter certification and transport

The CSA DCL entry names the product "Govee Smart Bulb" and part number H14B1, with vendor ID 4999 and product ID 5297. MatterCheck's record maps its CSA deviceTypeId 269 to dimmable_color_light and decodes the certificate CSA263W7MAT54455-24 as Matter 1.5, certified 2026-06-24.

The CSA's own certified-product page for the Govee Smart Bulb lists it as family variant SKU H14B1 in the H3751 family, with firmware 30.0, specification version 1.5, transport "Wi-Fi, Bluetooth" and TIS/TRP testing marked Yes. The same page describes it as a product to be installed in an outdoor porch with colour light effects, controlled over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a mobile app.

Transport is Wi-Fi. The DCL record contains no user manual URL, support URL, or product URL, so it does not publish Govee's setup guide or factory-reset steps. Because this is a Wi-Fi Matter bulb, it does not need a Thread border router; Govee's January 2026 guide and AddToHomeKit's setup notes both specify a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection. See MatterCheck's Matter over Wi-Fi vs Thread guide for the differences.

Govee Smart Bulb platform matrix

The table below is MatterCheck's type-level matrix for dimmable color lights, not a hands-on H14B1 lab result. MatterCheck did not test this bulb. See the Govee Matter devices guide for model-by-model notes.

The only Partial cell is Amazon Alexa's "Starts automations." SmartHomeExplorer's Govee Smart Bulb consensus page describes the broader Govee smart bulb as working with Google Home and Amazon Alexa and lists no HomeKit support as a common criticism; that page does not identify H14B1 by part number. AddToHomeKit's October 2026 guide says Govee Matter bulbs such as the BR30 Matter version pair directly with Apple Home over Wi-Fi. The Ambient's review lists no HomeKit and no SmartThings as cons for non-Matter Govee lights, and notes Matter is now on offer; the H14B1 record is Matter 1.5, so it is outside that older non-Matter group, but no dated H14B1-specific platform test is in the current record.

Govee Smart Bulb compatibility across platforms

For this device type, Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat are all Y for pairing, control, automation trigger, and automation action. Amazon Alexa is Y for pairing, control, and being controlled by automations, but Partial for starting automations. No platform in the matrix is Unknown for the type.

Govee's 2023 blog says its smart bulbs work with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, SmartThings, and IFTTT, and use the Govee Home App for schedules and remote control. The Ambient's review lists no HomeKit and no SmartThings as cons for non-Matter Govee lights, and notes Matter is now on offer, and the H14B1's MatterCheck record lists Matter 1.5.

Govee Smart Bulb setup and connection notes

Apple Home setup for Govee Matter bulbs

AddToHomeKit's October 2026 guide gives this flow for Govee Matter devices: check for the Matter logo, put the iPhone on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, enable Bluetooth, and finish Matter setup within 15 minutes of powering on. In the Apple Home app, tap Add (+), choose "Add Accessory," scan the Matter code, or use "More options" to enter the setup code. An Apple TV or HomePod is needed for remote access and automations.

Govee Home app and Wi-Fi bulb setup

TechRadar's March 2022 Govee Wi-Fi LED Bulb review found setup required turning the bulb on and off several times before the Govee app would see it. Once connected, the app handled brightness, color temperature, color, schedules, and room groups. Govee's 2023 blog adds that the Govee Home App can create customized lighting schedules, and lists music sync and sunrise/sunset modes among the bulbs' features.

If the Govee Smart Bulb will not connect

Govee's January 2026 guide says to check the socket type, confirm 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and check dimmer-switch compatibility, noting many smart bulbs are not to be used with traditional smart switches. AddToHomeKit warns that changing the Wi-Fi network from the Govee Home app after Matter setup can turn Matter off, requiring a reset and re-add. MatterCheck's Matter device not pairing guide covers general pairing failures.

Govee Smart Bulb specs, limits, and reviewer notes

  • CSA DCL: part H14B1, vid 4999, pid 5297, deviceTypeId 269, Matter 1.5 cert CSA263W7MAT54455-24 dated 2026-06-24.
  • SmartHomeExplorer's aggregate page gives a $6–$12 list price and 7/10 consensus; it quotes Tom's Guide saying at under $8 per bulb, Govee delivers surprisingly rich color reproduction.
  • TechRadar's 2022 review of the Govee Wi-Fi LED Bulb lists a $23.99/£23.39 twin-pack, $14/£14 single bulb, 800 lumen brightness, direct Wi-Fi with no hub, and colors that looked dimmer than white/yellow.
  • TechRadar found no native Apple HomeKit support on that 2022 bulb; Siri was possible through Shortcuts but clunky. The UK twin-pack used B22 bayonet bulbs, and the review said UK screw-mount users would need adapters.
  • Govee's January 2026 guide shows Matter varies by model: H6010, H600B, B6013 and H6006 list Matter, while H600A and H6008 do not. This matters because older non-Matter Govee stock is still sold.
  • AddToHomeKit says Govee Matter devices share on/off, brightness, color temperature, and color with Apple Home; music sync, dynamic scenes, segment control, and Govee app automations stay in the Govee app. Govee Matter devices are Wi-Fi only, with no Thread support.

Govee Smart Bulb vs Philips Hue

TechRadar's March 2022 review says the Govee bulb cost about a quarter of comparable Philips Hue, LIFX, or Hive bulbs and connected directly to Wi-Fi without a hub, while Philips Hue required a hub. The Ambient's 2023 Govee smart lights review says a Wi-Fi color Govee bulb cost less than $10/£10 in a multi-pack versus $49.99/£49.99 for a comparable Philips Hue bulb. TechRadar said the Govee app may lack the polished application of Philips Hue and that the Govee bulb's bold colors were less bright.

Verdict: Govee Smart Bulb

  • Consider if you want a Matter 1.5 Wi-Fi dimmable color bulb with no hub and you can verify the H14B1 Matter logo or code before purchase.
  • Note: this record has CSA certification and type-level matrix answers only; no dated H14B1-specific platform test results.
  • Note: advanced Govee app features such as music sync or segment control are not exposed through Apple Home; those stay in the Govee app.
