Nuki Smart Lock Ultra Matter transport and CSA certification
The CSA certified product page for this model is titled Nuki Smart Lock Ultra, while the DCL model record names it only Nuki Smart Lock. The DCL record uses Vendor ID 4957 (0x135D), Product ID 161 (0x00A1), the door lock device type (0x000A), and part number 0x00A1. The current CSA product page lists Family SKU 221145, Family Variant SKU 221003, firmware 1.4.1, hardware 11.12, certificate CSA25E3AMAT48524-24, certified date 2025-11-18, specification version 1.4.1, and transport Thread plus Bluetooth.
Nuki's product page says the lock supports Matter over Thread, with built-in Wi-Fi for immediate remote access and no Nuki Bridge required. Notebookcheck's December 2025 review lists the radios as Bluetooth 5.4 LE, WLAN IEEE 802.11 b/g/n on 2.4 GHz, and Thread IEEE 802.15.4 on 2.4 GHz. Because Matter runs over Thread here, the lock still needs a Thread border router and Matter controller on the target platform. MatterCheck's Thread border router guide and Thread vs Wi-Fi guide explain what that means for setup and range.
Nuki's Matter device guide for Nuki locks tracks how Nuki uses Thread and Wi-Fi across its lock family.
MatterCheck door lock platform support for Nuki Smart Lock Ultra
These are MatterCheck's type-level matrix answers for the Matter door lock device type, not a lab test of this specific model.

| Google Home | Yes | Partial | Yes | Partial |
| Amazon Alexa | Yes | Yes | Yes | Partial |

Platform differences for the Nuki Smart Lock Ultra
Apple Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat all show full Yes for control, starting automations, and being controlled by automations in MatterCheck's door lock matrix. Google Home has full pairing and automation triggering, but only Partial control and Partial automation action. Amazon Alexa has full pairing, control, and automation triggering, but only Partial automation action.
The available reviews do not break out lock/unlock limits per ecosystem. Notebookcheck says the Ultra works with Apple Home, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and Amazon Alexa through Matter and Thread, and Techzle says it is suitable for Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings. For other controllers, this product has to rely on the type-level matrix rather than a dated hands-on report.
Nuki Smart Lock Ultra installation and Nuki app setup
Nuki Smart Lock Ultra cylinder swap and 15-minute install
Nuki says installation starts by changing the existing lock cylinder for the included Universal Cylinder, then mounting the Smart Lock on top. The app provides a step-by-step guide, and Nuki says it takes about 15 minutes with no drilling and no technical know-how required.
Techzle's August 2025 review explains the process in more detail: remove the old cylinder, assemble the new cylinder from its modular parts, place the new cylinder in the door, attach the mounting plate, and attach the Smart Lock. It says cylinder adjustment takes about five minutes. The review also notes that this model is not a pure retrofit: because it uses a special Euro cylinder, it can be a problem in rental properties or shared locking plans where all doors are opened with one key.
Notebookcheck describes the included cylinder as modular, covering 30–67.5 mm inside and 30–55 mm outside, and says it has a three-star SKG certification. It adds that the cylinder can withstand attempted break-ins with heavy tools for at least five minutes, and three matching keys are included. Notebookcheck also reports a plastic gear wheel between the base plate and the Smart Lock that can break on older models; Nuki replaces it free of charge, and locks delivered since October 2025 are not affected.
Nuki Smart Lock Ultra Matter pairing code notes
None of the sources print a numeric Matter setup code. The CSA DCL record's commissioning instruction fields are empty, and Nuki's product page routes initial setup through the Nuki app. In the app, after linking over Bluetooth, Techzle says you connect to a Wi-Fi or Thread network, with no extra bridge required. Existing Nuki users can back up their settings and transfer users, schedules, and rights to the Ultra. If pairing fails, MatterCheck's Matter device not pairing guide covers common Thread and controller-side issues.
Nuki Smart Lock Ultra specs and review measurements
- Size and weight: 250 g and ⌀57 x 58 mm depth; Nuki calls it the smallest Smart Lock developed by Nuki.
- Radio and temperature: Bluetooth 5.4 LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n at 2.4 GHz, Thread 802.15.4 at 2.4 GHz, and 10–40 °C operating temperature.
- Battery: integrated lithium-polymer battery, 9.7 Wh, 11.1 V, 870 mAh. Nuki says a full charge takes about 2 hours and battery life lasts "months." Notebookcheck's intensive four-person household test measured a little more than five months, while Techzle saw 85% remaining after one month with up to eight locking actions per day.
- Locking speeds: Nuki lists Insane, Standard, and Gentle modes. The German datasheet says double locking takes less than 1.5 seconds in Insane, 2 seconds in Standard, and less than 3.3 seconds in Gentle. Nuki's product page says those modes are 3.4x, 2.6x, and 1.5x faster than previous generations.
- Noise: Notebookcheck measured 63 dB(A) in Gentle mode, 70 dB(A) in Standard, and 72 dB(A) in Insane at a 1 m distance. It says the faster modes can be disturbing at night.
- Access management: Nuki and Notebookcheck both say the lock can manage up to 200 user authorisations. The app offers logs, time control, auto unlock, and Lock'n'Go. Techzle says Auto-Unlock uses GPS, Bluetooth, and geofencing, and opens when you are about five metres away.
- Security and cylinder: Nuki says Universal Cylinder passed SKG***, EN 1303, and DIN18252, and has a drill-resistant body. Nuki also says all communication is end-to-end encrypted and there is an emergency key function if the lock loses power.
- Accessories: compatible with Nuki Fob, Keypad, Keypad 2, Keypad 2 Pro, and Door Sensor. It is not compatible with Nuki Bridge because Wi-Fi is built in, and it is not compatible with older Universal Cylinders. The optional Keypad 2 is $159, IP54-rated, works from -20 to +70 °C, and stores up to 200 access codes and 20 fingerprints.
- Review caveats: Notebookcheck found rare cases where the latch did not retract on the first attempt, and no push notification after repeated incorrect keypad entries. It also notes the battery is permanent and cannot be replaced by the user, so a defect requires contacting the manufacturer.
Nuki Smart Lock Ultra: buy if, skip if
- Buy if you want a Matter-over-Thread door lock with built-in Wi-Fi for remote Nuki access, and Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, or SmartThings is your primary platform.
- Buy if you are willing to swap your existing cylinder and want the included SKG***, EN 1303, and DIN18252 Universal Cylinder with emergency key use.
- Buy if a compact design, three locking speeds, 200 authorisations, and accessory support for keypad or fingerprint entry matter more than silent operation.
- Skip if you cannot change the door cylinder, especially in a rental or shared locking-plan situation.
- Skip if you need a user-replaceable battery or a very quiet lock for bedrooms; Notebookcheck says even Gentle mode reaches 63 dB(A).
- Skip if you need detailed product-specific setup instructions for Home Assistant, Homey, or Hubitat; those sources are not yet present, so the type-level matrix is the only reference.
