The WiZ Smart Plug Matter support arrives through a CSA-certified Matter-over-Wi-Fi implementation: Signify's plug is certified as device type plug_outlet. Its Matter certificate is CSA23B43MAT41654-24, certified on Monday, August 14, 2023, and MatterAlpha lists Matter 1.0 with firmware v1.0. The plug connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi without a WiZ hub or Thread border router. WiZ says lights and smart plugs produced after Q2 2021 support Matter, and The Verge reports they can be added to Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings through Matter.
This page reports source facts and MatterCheck's type-level matrix for plug_outlet; MatterCheck has not lab-tested this SKU.
WiZ Smart Plug Matter transport and CSA facts
MatterAlpha's WiZ Smart Plug page lists Matter over Wi-Fi as the transport. The Verge's April 2023 report says WiZ works over Wi-Fi and does not need a hub or bridge. TechRadar's July 2023 review says the WiZ Wi-Fi smart plug pairs exclusively with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and MatterAlpha repeats the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi requirement. Because this is a Wi-Fi Matter device, no Thread border router is needed for this plug.
WiZ Smart Plug CSA certification
The CSA DCL model record for vendor ID 4107 and product ID 8197 names the product "WiZ Smart Plug" and lists device type plug_outlet. MatterAlpha lists the certification ID CSA23B43MAT41654-24, certified on Monday, August 14, 2023, with Matter Specification Version 1.0, hardware version v1.0, and latest certified firmware v1.0. The WiZ support URL is wiz.guide/matter.
WiZ Smart Plug per-platform Matter matrix
These are MatterCheck's type-level answers for plug_outlet, not a product-specific lab test of the WiZ Smart Plug.
| Platform | Pairs | Control | Starts automations | Controlled by automations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Home | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Google Home | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Amazon Alexa | Yes | Yes | Unknown | Yes |
| SmartThings | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Home Assistant | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Homey | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Hubitat | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Product-specific source support differs slightly from the table context. The Verge's April 2023 report names Apple Home as newly supported through Matter for compatible WiZ lights and plugs. The Amazon Alexa "Starts automations" value is Unknown in MatterCheck's matrix; no official source or dated hands-on report confirms it for plug_outlet.
No product-specific source in this record covers Home Assistant, Homey, or Hubitat for this SKU, so those rows carry MatterCheck's plug_outlet type-level matrix answers. See MatterCheck's smart plug support guide for general plug pairing expectations.
WiZ Smart Plug cross-platform compatibility
Across the seven platforms in MatterCheck's plug_outlet matrix, every row has Yes for Pairs and Control. Amazon Alexa is the only row with Unknown for Starts automations; Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, and Hubitat are all Yes for that column. For this specific WiZ Smart Plug, The Verge reported that WiZ products work with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings through Matter, while the new WiZ v2 app adds Apple Home. WiZ's help center also says Google, Alexa, and SmartThings support both Matter and the existing WiZ integration.

WiZ v2 Matter migration and pairing
For initial WiZ pairing, TechRadar's reviewer notes that you need to turn the plug on and off three times to enter pairing mode; the instructions also refer to the plug as a light. For Matter migration, The Verge says you need the new WiZ v2 app and a Matter controller such as an Apple HomePod, Amazon Echo, or Google Nest Hub.
- Open the WiZ v2 app and go to Settings.
- Tap Integration under the current home section.
- Tap Matter in the integration list.
- Tap each Matter-updatable device to start migration; WiZ says each Matter certificate is unique to the device.
The Verge's April 2023 report describes the same path as tapping the Integrations icon in the settings tab, tapping the Matter logo, and then clicking each listed device. WiZ's Apple Home help says to make sure the smartphone system is on iOS 16.1 and the hub is Matter supported. See MatterCheck's WiZ Matter guide for more context on compatible WiZ devices.

WiZ Smart Plug: buy or skip
- Buy if you want a budget Matter-over-Wi-Fi plug that adds Apple Home support through the WiZ v2 app.
- Buy if you already use WiZ lights or other WiZ devices and want to stay in the same app and ecosystem.
- Buy if you need simple on/off, scheduling, and remote control on a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Skip if you need energy consumption monitoring; TechRadar and GadgetGuy both report it absent in this plug.
- Skip if you rely on HomeKit without Matter and do not want to migrate to the WiZ v2 Matter path; TechRadar's July 2023 review lists no HomeKit.
- Skip if your router cannot split 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and you have trouble pairing 2.4 GHz-only devices.
