Best Matter devices for Homey in 2026
Homey pairs 26 of the 27 types and 26 can start a flow — close to SmartThings on breadth, and it includes the EV charger, heat pump and solar rows that the mainstream platforms leave Unknown. The honest caveat: every Homey row is Med confidence, because we do not yet have an official Homey statement plus a dated hands-on test for these cells.
How we picked
Every pick sits in a device type the MatterCheck matrix rates as pairing on Homey — 26 of the 27 types, with 26 able to start an automation. The support rating is at device-type level and dated; the product comes from our SKU directory, where we prefer High-confidence records and never recommend a Low one. Each row links the type's own evidence page and the product record, and the evidence standard explains what counts as proof.

A pick means we have a dated record for the product and the device type is rated as pairing on Homey. It does not mean the maker has tested that exact model on Homey; the product record shows what the maker claims and what we checked. The tag beside a product is our SKU record's confidence; the rating in the Why column is the matrix cell's.
What you need
Homey Pro, Homey Pro mini or the Homey Self-Hosted Server (Matter 1.5 controller) is required. Thread devices need a Thread border router.
Where Homey is strongest
- Broad coverage: 26 of 27 types, including the EV charger, heat pump and solar rows.
- 26 types can start a Homey flow, so most devices work as automation inputs as well as outputs.
- One controller for Matter, Zigbee, Z-Wave and 433 MHz devices — useful if you are consolidating older gear.
What to skip or treat with care
- Partial only: Electric energy meter — some features or device subsets work; check the type page before buying.
- Pairs, but with caveats: Switch / button (partial control); Solar power (control and automation action Unknown).
Frequently asked questions
What are the best Matter devices for Homey?
The core full-path types: lights, plugs, locks, sensors, blinds, vacuums and thermostats, plus the EV charger and heat pump rows (solar pairs and starts a flow, but its control is Unknown). Our first picks are IKEA GRILLPLATS smart plug for plugs, Aqara Smart Lock U200 for locks and Eve Thermo (Matter) for climate.
Why is every Homey row Med confidence?
Med means the value rests on weaker evidence — typically official documentation or owner reports without a dated independent hands-on test. We would rather show Med than overstate a row.
Which Homey do I need for Matter?
Homey Pro, Homey Pro mini or the Homey Self-Hosted Server, which is a Matter 1.5 controller. Thread devices need a Thread border router.
